Subjunctive Mood

虚拟语气在正式建议、要求中的应用。

虚拟语气用于建议、要求、命令等：

动词 + that + 主语 + 动词原形：

  • suggest, recommend, propose, insist, demand, require, request
  • The professor *recommended* that she *study* harder.（不是 studies）
  • It is essential that every student *submit* the report.

    • 注意： 不管主语是第几人称，虚拟语气中动词都用原形。

    形容词引导：

    It is important/necessary/vital/essential that...

    Examples

    TOEFL Tip:

    After "suggest/recommend/insist that...", always use the base form of the verb!
