Indefinite (a/an): กล่าวถึงครั้งแรก ทั่วไป

    • Definite (the): เจาะจง ทราบแล้ว มีหนึ่งเดียว

  • *The* sun rises in the east. (สิ่งที่มีหนึ่งเดียว)

    • Zero Article:

  • คำนามนับไม่ได้/นามธรรม: *Information* is important. (*The* information ✗)
  • คำนามพหูพจน์ทั่วไป: *Employees* should arrive on time.

    • กรณีพิเศษ:

  • เครื่องดนตรี: play *the* piano
  • ขั้นสูงสุด: *the* best option
