Adjectives

Adjective positions, suffixes, and comparative/superlative forms in TOEFL context.

Adjectives describe or modify nouns.

Position:

  • Before a noun: a *significant* increase
  • After linking verbs (be, seem, become): The results are *impressive*.
  • Common TOEFL Adjective Suffixes:

    Comparative & Superlative:

  • Short adj: -er / -est (faster, fastest)

    TOEFL Tip:

    If the blank is between an article/possessive and a noun, you need an adjective.
