仮定法

suggest, recommend, insist, requestの後の仮定法 — 上級TOEFL文法です。

仮定法： 提案・要求の動詞の後に動詞原形を使います。

  • The manager suggested that she attend the meeting.（attendsではない）

    • （マネージャーは彼女が会議に出席することを提案した。）

  • It is essential that the report be submitted on time.（isではない）

    • （報告書が期限通りに提出されることが不可欠だ。）

  • They recommended that he apply for the position.（appliesではない）

    • （彼らは彼がその職に応募することを推薦した。）

    トリガー動詞： suggest, recommend, insist, demand, require, request, propose

    トリガー形容詞： essential, important, necessary, vital, crucial

    形： that + 主語 + 動詞原形（-sなし、"should"なし）

    Examples

    TOEFL Tip:

    After "suggest/recommend/insist that...", always use the base form of the verb!
