부사절

시간, 이유, 조건, 양보의 부사절과 핵심 접속사를 학습합니다.

부사절은 동사, 형용사, 다른 부사를 수식합니다. 언제, 왜, 어떻게, 어떤 조건에서인지를 답합니다.

시간: when, while, before, after, until, as soon as, once

*Once* the contract is signed, production will begin. (계약이 체결되면 생산이 시작된다.)

이유: because, since, as, now that

*Since* demand has increased, we hired more staff. (수요가 증가했기 때문에 더 많은 직원을 고용했다.)

조건: if, unless, provided that, as long as

*Unless* the payment is received, the order will be canceled. (결제가 되지 않으면 주문이 취소된다.)

양보: although, even though, while, whereas

*Although* the price increased, sales remained strong. (가격이 올랐지만 매출은 강세를 유지했다.)

중요: 절(S+V) 앞에는 접속사를, 명사 앞에는 전치사를 사용합니다.

Examples

Although the product was expensive, customers continued to purchase it. — 제품이 비쌌지만 고객들은 계속 구매했다.
